Anna Leona Mays, 89, of Harrisburg, died April 11th at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born September 3, 1924 in Walnut Ridge to John Ervin and Lillie Holder. On September 2, 1944, she married Ben Mays in Walnut Ridge and remained married for 43 years until his death.  She worked many years for the Moore Brothers, helped on the family farm, attended Senior Citizens of Harrisburg, and was a member of Main St. church of Christ in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben Mays; son, David Benjamin Mays; brother, Sonny Holder; sisters, Mardell Manning and Wanda Bowers; and grandson, Lyle Mays.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Massengill (Gaylon) of Harrisburg; brothers, Weldon Holder of TX and Billy Holder of Walnut Ridge; granddaughters, Holly Briley (Adam) and Keysha Curtis (Michael); great-grandchildren, Casen and Macey Briley, and Kennedy, Corbin, and Kyson Curtis.

Visitation will be Monday, April 14th from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Chapel of Cox-Fears Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation in the chapel with Dr. Kelly Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge.

Pallbearers are Adam Briley, Michael Curtis, Johnny Holder, Mike Holder, Jason Andrews, Chucky Bowers, and Luke Massengill.
