Ava Sue Lusk, 78 of Portia, Arkansas passed from this life March 23, 2024 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born January 12, 1946 to the late Vernon Chronister and Ethel (Holloway) Chronister. She was united in marriage to Royce Lee Lusk June 4, 1970 at Oak Grove Church of Christ near Egypt. Ava was a member of the Church of Christ at Portia. She enjoyed making greeting cards for the church as well as teaching ladies bible class. Ava was an English Lit/History teacher for 4 years in Blytheville and 29 years in Delaplaine.

In addition to her parents, Ava was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister-in-law Marlene Chronister.

She is survived by her husband Royce Lee Lusk of the home; children Adrian Lusk of Bentonville and Shelley (John) Ancel of Sherwood; a brother, John "JT" Chronister from Newport; grandchildren, Christopher and Ruby Ancel, Mason, Addie, Annabelle, Lilly, Silas and Oliver Escue; and special family members, Jeremy and Amanda Escue of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with funeral services immediately following at 1 p.m. Robert Davis and Seth Parnell will officiate.  Interment will follow in Markham Cemetery near Egypt under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers Jeremy Escue, Mason Escue, Christopher Ancel, John Dulaney and Joe Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are all of her former students.
