Betty Jean "Manis" Gallentine, 75, of Sedgwick passed from this life on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born October 17, 1947, in Walnut Ridge to the late Sam Franklin and Pearlie (Lakey) Manis. She was the manager and assistant owner of "Guess What" thrift store in Walnut Ridge.  She was of the Christian belief.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Clara Mae Johnson; and sister-in-law, Clara Belle Manis.

Betty is survived by her significant other, Donnie Nelson, of 37 years; son, Byron Gallentine (April) of Hoxie; daughter, Jammie Emmert (Andy) of the home; other children, Ernie Nelson (Lori) of Light, Laura Simpkins (John), Ray Nelson both of Sedgwick, and Stacey Simpkins (Mike) of Jacksonville; siblings, Charles (Bud) Manis  and Shirley Crum (Tom) both of Sedgwick; grandchildren, Geena and Garrett Conrey, Chase, Corbin, and Cidney Gallentine; other grandchildren, Justin, Autumn, Dylan, Caitlin, Emily, Cody, Steven, Drew, and Lexi, and host of great-grandchildren. Betty was also a beloved aunt to Tony Johnson (Debra), Scott Ward (Angela), Tracy Gates (Wes), Rodney Manis (Kari), Randy Manis (Lesa), and a host of other family members.

A celebration of life for Betty will be held Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Sedgwick Community Center.
