Betty Lou Womble, 87, of Pocahontas passed from this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at The Green House Cottages in Walnut Ridge. She was born November 2,1936, in Pocahontas to the late Robert Elmer and Eulah Jane (Rodgers) Poe. She was united in marriage to Bruce Edison Womble, Sr. on July 3, 1954, in Rockford, IL. She was employed for many years at Brown Shoe Company in Pocahontas and worked at Wendy's in Pocahontas in later years. Betty enjoyed attending southern gospel singings and was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Bob Poe, Sr. and Elmer Poe; sisters, Bernice Billips and Opal Snow; grandchildren, Jennifer Smith and Bruce Womble III.

She is survived by her children, Belinda Rice (Bob) of Sherwood, Benita Little (Mark) of White Hall, and Bruce Womble (Lorie) of Hollister, MO; brother, Bill Poe Sr. (Helen) of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Christopher Smith (Jessica), Briana Jean (Josh), Taylor White (Hunter), Steven Simpson II (Jennifer), Blake Simpson (Bianca), Ben Simpson, Cheyenne Cook (Virgil), Shamela Blackmon (Carlos), Lane Womble, Chad Fry and Meagan Thick; 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She also is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, September 16, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Gravesville Community Church in Pocahontas with funeral services following immediately at 2 p.m. Speaker will be Christopher Smith. Interment will follow in Gravesville Cemetery in Pocahontas under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Honored to serve as pallbearers, are Steven Simpson II, Blake Simpson, Ben Simpson, Keondre Williams, Hunter White and Bill Poe, Jr.
