Brus Bernard Carter, 79, of Powhatan died Thursday, September 6, at his residence. He was born September 13, 1932 in Alicia to James and Ruth Light Carter. October 17, 1952, he married Maxine Gaye Marley. He was retired from Mechanics Universal Joint in Rockford, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Gail Bennett; and sisters, Louise Crane and Pauline Crane.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; sons, Dan Carter of Byron, IL, Mark Carter of West Bend, WI, Jim Carter of VA, Steve Carter of Roscoe, IL; daughters, Christine Doughty of Rockford, IL and Kitty Rapier of TN; sister, Patsy Swanner of Jonesboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge. Services will be private.
