Bud McElrath, 92, of Smithville, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his residence.  He was born June 25, 1926 to Claude and Lou Cline McElrath in Bono.  He married Essie Shrable on March 20, 1949 in Bono. He was a farmer and of the Seventh Day Belief. He lived in the Smithville area for twenty years, after moving from Hoxie in 1998. He loved to garden, hunt, and fish. Bud served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Essie Shrable McElrath; his parents; brothers, Clinton, Glenn, and Butch McElrath; sisters, Wanda Lee Davis and Oleta McElrath.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Crider (Tony)  and Brenda Headrick (Marvel) both of Smithville;  Jean Browning and Janis Ellison, both of Bono;  grandchildren, Tammie and Chuck Caldwell, Torre Crider, Wendy Milligan, Brad and Kristie Graham and Jeff and Meghan Graham; great-grandchildren, Emily and Hunter Gates, Claire and Tyler Jackson, Sophie and Jayln Crider; great -great grandchildren, Kloey and Sawyer Gates, Jolie, Lainey and Lottie Jackson.

Visitation will be held at his residence at 275 Dogwood Circle in Smithville, Arkansas beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2018. Mr. McElrath will lie in state at his home until time of service.  A graveside service will be Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the family cemetery with Herb Wilson of Tuckerman officiating.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
