Colbert Lynn Gill, 88, of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, August 8, 2025.

Born Sept. 6, 1936, in Walnut Ridge, Colbert grew up on the family farm near Portia. Early in his career, he farmed and traded livestock and equipment. He was a farmer, owned Gill Chevrolet in Highland and Walnut Ridge, served as a Lawrence County justice of the peace in the 1970s and was a Mason.

On April 8, 1955, he married the love of his life, Doris O'Connor of Sedgwick. Together, they raised a beautiful family and enjoyed golf, traveling to play courses throughout the U.S.; horseback riding, including trail rides out West; playing cards; and spending time with their beloved family. In the last several years, they enjoyed touring the farm in their side-by-side with their dog Jody. They celebrated 70 years of marriage earlier this year.

Colbert is survived by his loving wife, Doris; a son, Greg Gill and wife Kim of Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Teresa Gill of Cherokee Village; two sisters, Patsy Gill Martin of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Barbara Gill Stevenson of Oakland Township, Michigan; four grandchildren, Jennifer Faldon and husband Scott of Fort Smith, Gary Gill and Lisa Hollister of Walnut Ridge, Emily King and husband Nick of Cherokee Village, and Nash Gill of Walnut Ridge; great-grandchildren Luke Gill, Wyatt Birkhead, Paige Faldon, Tucker Birkhead, Brynna King, Aaron Henry and Sam King; many nieces and nephews he loved and enjoyed; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olus and Rebecca (Kissee) Gill; brothers Harold Gill, Jerry Gill, H.V. Gill and infant Douglas Gill; and two sons, Keith Gill and David Gill.

Visitation will be 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, followed by funeral services at 3 p.m., officiated by Brother Gary Mashburn.

Pallbearers are Gary Gill, Nash Gill, Luke Gill, Wyatt Birkhead, Tucker Birkhead, Scott Faldon and Nick King.
