Delbert Gene Gall, 78, went home to be with the Lord on February 23, 2017 in Jonesboro after a lengthy illness.  He was born on March 4, 1938 in Hoxie to Vernie and Mildred Morgan Gall.  He was a 1958 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School.  After graduating from high school, he went to Rockford, Illinois to work at Wells Beach Tool and Dye Shop, before returning home to help his dad farm.

In 1964, he met the love of his life, Mary Bennett at Cupp Café in Light, Arkansas.  They married on December 17, 1965.  They resided in Walnut Ridge for six years before they moved to the farm in 1971, about one half mile from where he grew up in Lawrence County.  He loved taking care of his animals and loved farming.  Delbert carried the chain markers for Walnut Ridge Football for over twenty- five years.  Delbert was a member of United Free Will Baptist Church.  He truly loved his Lord and all his church family.

Delbert was involved in the Cub Scout program as a Cub Master for eight years, was on the Farm Bureau Board for forty years, served on the Farm Service board, and retired in 2003.  He had an interest in making the two - row farm equipment.  He had a life-time joy of trail rides and fish cooking for friends, family, and an occasional politician.  He and Mary always enjoyed going to gospel singings.

He enjoyed getting out and meeting people, though he never met a stranger, striking up a conversation with anyone, anytime, anywhere.  He loved to just see what was happening in the area from the flat land to the hills.  He could take teasing and loved to dish it out, too.  Delbert had no reservation in expressing his opinion or expressing how things should be done.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, Clarence, and twin brother, Elbert; their wives; and all his aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife of fifty- one years, Mary, of the home; two sons, Tommy (Rachel) Gall of Blytheville and Robert Gall of Paragould; three cherished grandchildren, Ella and Thomas Gall of Blytheville, and Brielle Gall of Walnut Ridge; and many other relatives and friends.

Delbert was a devoted husband, father, and a good provider.  He was called "Daddy Deb" by the special ones in his life.  Delbert was definitely "One of a kind".

Visitation for Delbert will be Friday, February 24, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.  Funeral will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Glenn Smith and Chuck Fitzgerald officiating.  Burial will be at Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jim Cunningham, Jason Andrews, Eggie Tedder, Greg Coats, Dominick Johnson, Mark Tate, Bobby Henson, and Erick Tate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Free Will Baptist Church building fund, or the Childrens Shelter.
