Donald "Elmo" Bridges, 78 of Strawberry, died July 31, 2013 at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. He was born July 25, 1935 in Brinkley to William Vernon and Opal Elmo Dry Bridges. On July 30, 2005, he married Betty Jo Neal in Holland, MI. He was an Army veteran, a carpenter, and was of the Baptist belief.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Phyllis Marie Harbison Bridges; son, Joseph Elmo Bridges; brothers, William Vernon Bridges, Jr. and Kenneth Allison Bridges.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; son, Daniel Bridges (Dee Dee) of Clover Bend; daughter, Marie Owens (Terry) of Alicia ; sisters, Barbara Barton (Frank) of White Cloud, MI and Carolyn Prins (Ron) of Holland, MI; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Saturday, August 3, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Alicia Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation and will be under the direction of Cox-Fears Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Marvin Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia.

Pallbearers are Daniel Bridges, Jeb Bridges, Terry Owens, Josh Owens, Aaron Owens, Brandon Burgett, and Tyler Burgett.
