Donnie "Doc" Barnes, 52, of Hoxie passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Harris Hospital in Newport.  He was born July 10, 1967 in Walnut Ridge.  He was employed at Farm Service and attended Faith Worship Center in Portia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Junior Davis and Kathryn Wheeler Lewis; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Lela Wheeler; brother, Ronnie Barnes: sister, Melissa Tennison; and nephew, Josh Barnes.

He is survived by his fiancé of 25 years, Ricia Lewis of the home; son, Derick Barnes of the home; daughter, Kelsey Lewis (Andrew) of Walnut Ridge; father-in-law, Rick Lewis (Ann) of Walnut Ridge; mother-in-law, Janet Lewis (Gary Johnson) of Okean; brother, Lynn Barnes of Jonesboro; sister, Cindy Smith (Billy) of Walnut Ridge; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.  Funeral services will be at Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with Steve Alexander officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Keith Fears, Jeremy Ezell, Shane Barnes, Justin Barnes, Gavin Fain, and Elijah Richardson.

Honorary pallbearers are Keith Stratton, Randy Davis, Jason Snyder, Travis Tinker, and the employees of Farm Service.
