Dorothy Jean Davis, 89, of Black Rock passed from this life on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Alden Park Strathmoor Nursing Home in Rockford, Illinois. She was born October 17, 1934, in Walnut Ridge to the late Floyd and Edna (Ward) Young. She was employed with Wurlitzer Piano Factory and DeKalb County Nursing Home during her lifetime. She attended the Four Square Church in DeKalb and Lake Charles Full Gospel Church.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, J.W. "Jim" Davis; and brothers, Curtis Young and Charles Young.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Davis (Patricia) of Rockford, Illinois, Michael Davis (Pamela) of DeKalb, and Kimberly Davis of Anna, Illinois; grandchildren, John Davis, Chad Davis, Greg Davis, and Paul Davis; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, July 15, 2024, from 12 until 1 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with funeral services following at 1 p.m. with Gaylon Russell officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge

Family will serve as pallbearers.
