Edna Lea LaMew, 89, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed from this life Friday, April 11, 2025, at her residence. She was born October 6, 1935, in Walnut Ridge to the late Claude and Ruby (Hibbard) Waddell. She was a cosmetologist for several years and was employed at Skil, where she retired. Edna was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was the matriarch of her family and raised her two siblings after her parents' passing.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Arliss LaMew; daughter, Denise Bryant; and siblings, Carroll Waddell and Hope Segraves.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Sabio (Reuben) of Mississippi; brothers, Paul Waddell (Norma) of Kensett and Kelly Waddell (Joyce) of Walnut Ridge; sister, Mona Helms (Danny) of Conway; grandchildren, Jacob Sabio, Joseph Sabio, Caleb Bryant, Zachary Bryant, Gwenyth Sutphin, and Dorian Davis; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be Friday, April 18, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge, with services immediately following at 12 p.m. Bro. Rick Hart will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Walcott under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jim Gates, Robert Denison, Robert Engelkin, Michael Witcher, and Edna's nephews and grandsons.
