Eula Jean Wheelis, 87, of Smithville, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born August 30, 1938, in Manila to the late Eual Busby and Ollie Dean (Tucker) Choate. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge. She cherished her three sons and found great joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and canning in her spare time. Eula attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ray Wheelis; son, Gregory Ray Wheelis; and sisters, Mary Jane Tubbs and Martha Joan Choate.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Wheelis (Debbie) of Smithville, and Terry Wheelis (Vickie) of Bono; grandchildren, Michael Wheelis (Terran), Miranda Wheelis (Kim), and Emily Wheelis King (Nick); great-grandchildren, Layton Wheelis, Xander Wheelis, Wyatt King, Tucker King, Brynna King, Aaron King, Samuel King, Vanessa Devolld, and Ashley Witt.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. in Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge with funeral services immediately following at 11 A.M. Steve Alexander will officiate. Interment will follow in the Old Military Cemetery in Sedgwick under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mike Wheelis, Terry Wheelis, Michael Wheelis, Layton Wheelis, Xander Wheelis, and Thomas Witt.
