Walnut Ridge – Ezra Maxey Pierce, age 71, of Walnut Ridge, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born on July 31, 1944 to Dewell and Hazel Gosser Pierce. On February 28, 1964, he married Tommie Darlene Ward at Bell's Chapel near Sedgwick. He was a retired owner/operator truck driver and served as a police officer over twenty years. He was elected to and served as constable of the Promised Land township in Lawrence County. During his time as constable, Ezra was appointed Chief of Police of Sedgwick, Arkansas where he served until he retired. He was a member of Sedgwick Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dewell Pierce.

Survivors include his wife, Tommie of the home; sons, Dewayne Pierce (Brenda) of Marshall, Michael Pierce (Mary) of Fountain Hills, Arizona; mother, Hazel Gosser Pierce of Smithville; sister, Ruby Jean Haynes of Smithville; grandchildren, Corey Pierce, Taylor Pierce, Megan Brooks, Joshua Pierce, Wendy Passmore, Paul McKenna, and Mark McKenna; and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Sedgwick Baptist Church in Sedgwick with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m. with Tom Lamb officiating. Burial will be at Old Military Cemetery in Sedgwick under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joshua Pierce, Taylor Pierce, Dennis Holder, Corey Pierce, Jack Ward, and Jeff Worlow.
