Black Rock- Gene Whitlow, 86, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. Born on October 30, 1928 in the Sloan Town Community he was the son of Garland and Bertha Dunlap Whitlow. He was owner and operator of Gene's Garage for many years and school bus driver for Black Rock School. He was a member of the New Life Full Gospel Church at Black Rock.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Anita Stewart Whitlow; brother, Earl Whitlow; sisters, Louise Fears, Mozell Dulaney, Aleta Wade and Nadine Stewart Pierce.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Whitlow (Barbara); brother, Bill Whitlow all of Black Rock; grandchildren, Robert Lee, Jr., Britt and Blake Whitlow and Bridgette Spurlock and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 6 until 8 p. m. at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the New Life Full Gospel Church in Black Rock with Allen Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Fred VanHoozer, Eric Vance, Heath Russell, Allen Stinnett, Billy Starnes, Jr. and Glenn Blackburn.

Honorary: Robert Lee Whitlow, Jr., Britt Whitlow, Blake Whitlow, Matthew Spurlock, David Whitlow and Ronnie Starnes.
