Gerldine Marie Fry Brewer of Hoxie went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, May 8, 2020.  Gerldine was the youngest daughter and next to the youngest child of Rev. L.F. and Gladys Warner Fry.  Her parents were active in Christian ministry for over fifty years, and they instilled in her the desire to help others whenever possible.

Gerldine has been married to Bill Brewer, her loving husband of 57 years, since April 27, 1963.  In 1968, Gerldine went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone.  In her 35-year career there, she worked in various positions through multiple company name changes and countless technological advancements.  She also spent the majority of her life providing for others in a variety of ways as she devoted her life to promoting the gospel of Christ and caring for everyone within her scope of influence.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. L.F. and Gladys Fry; brothers, Shelby Fry, Benny Fry, and Laurence Fry; sisters, Lorene Luster, Lavada Fry, Ruby Camden, Luezene Carlson, and Norma Smith; and a beloved grandson, Eric Harmon.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; her son, Rick Brewer and wife Pat; her daughter, Victoria Harmon and husband Michael; her sister, Nina Vinson; her dear grandson, Dustin Harmon; and countless other relatives and friends.

In the Apostle Paul's letter to the church at Philippi, believers were instructed, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.  Rather, in humility value others above yourself." (Phillippians 2:3)

Anyone who knew Gerldine knows this verse describes the essence of her life.

Graveside services will be Monday, May 11, 2020 at 1 p.m. in Manning Cemetery #1 near Sedgwick with Rev. Terry Miller officiating.  Due to CDC guidelines, please maintain a 6-foot distance at the cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.
