Glenn Gerald Swift, 78, of Smithville, departed from this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on July 26, 1948, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late George William and Elizabeth (Billingsley) Swift. After graduating from Calumet High School in Indiana in 1967, Glen attended Southern Baptist College before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he earned his degree from Arkansas State University. Glenn was an educated man but a fisherman and carpenter by heart. He chose to live most of his life as a “free spirit” doing what he wanted and loved. His son described him with these words - “He was teacher of children, a spokesman for those that had no voice, and always gave a helping hand for those in need.” Glenn’s independent soul and generous heart will be deeply missed.

Glenn was proceeded in death by his wife, Debbie Swift; his parents; and brother in law, Tillman Walker.

He is survived by one son, Jonathan (Amy) Swift, one brother, Harlind (Maie) Swift, and two sisters, Phylis Walker and Carolyn (Tony) Hudson; three granddaughters, Jazmine Swift, Shelby Swift and Exa Connor; three great grand-daughters, seven nieces, three nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and many friends whom Glenn considered family.

Services for Glenn will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at the First Free Will Baptist Church (301 NW 7th St Walnut Ridge, AR). Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a memorial service immediately following at 11:00 A.M. Bro. Terry Spradlin will officiate. There will be no burial at this time.
