James Lowell Fitzgerald, 77, of Powhatan went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born January 1, 1947, in Grafton, North Dakota to the late Ralph and Merle (Jackson) Fitzgerald. He was united in marriage to Sandra Campbell on July 18, 1981, in Browning, Montana. He was a construction superintendent and carpenter during his lifetime. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Jim loved to make arrowheads and was founder and past president of the 630th engineer company LE reunion.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by an infant brother; sister, Verneta; and grandson, Jesse James Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of the home; children, James Lowell Fitzgerald (Tracy) of West Virginia, and Tom Benton Fitzgerald (Sharlynn) of Washington; three step-sons, Scott Kessinger (Kathy), Marc Kessinger, and Jason Kessinger, all of Washington; siblings, Raymond Fitzgerald, Dan Fitzgerald (Patty), Susan Klassert (Tim), and Bill Fitzgerald (Kimberly) all of Oregon; grandchildren, Staci Henry, Taylor Wagner, Shelby Fitzgerald, Thomas Fitzgerald, Cameron Kessinger, Britney Kessinger, Zach Kessinger, Mason Kessinger, Cody Kessinger, Jacob Kessinger, and Tyler Kessinger; great-grandson, Braden Bruce; several other great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and church family members whom he loved dearly.

Visitation will be Monday, July 1, 2024, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with funeral services immediately following at 7 p.m. Pastor Matt Morse will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024, 10 a.m. in Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan. Military honors will be rendered.  All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Tom Fitzgerald, Scott Kessinger, Marc Kessinger, Braden Bruce, Jason Kessinger, and Jasper Henry.

Honorary pallbearers are Larry Helms and Jeff Ogden.
