James M. "J.M." Harris, 85, of Pocahontas died September 26, 2013 at his residence. He was born December 21, 1927 in Stokes to Lehman and Elmyra Shocklee Harris. On April 30, 1949 he married Zada Evans in Pocahontas. He was a WWII Army veteran, member of Hillside Church of Christ in Stokes, and worked at Brown Shoe.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Loren and Gilbert Harris; sisters, Delpha Pierce, Marie Waymon, and Betty Jean Crismon; grandson, Mark Seawel.

Survivors include his wife Zada of the home; sons, Bret Harris (Polly) of Warm Springs, James Harris (Tina) of Jonesboro, Leon Harris (Peggy) of Willow Springs, MO; daughters, Barbara Seawel (Ken) and Nancy (Tom) Sorg all of Pocahontas, Lois Sanders (Bennie) of Giddings, TX; brother, Floyd Harris of Springfield, MO; thirteen grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, September 30, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Cox-Fears Chapel. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Cox-Fears Chapel under the direction of Cox-Fears Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Brett Hickey officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Cemetery in Stokes.

Pallbearers are Shawn Seawel, Jonathan Seawel, Jason Harris, Bennie Sanders, Joshua Harris, and Caleb Harris.

Honorary pallbearers are Chris McCorkle, Mark Duff, Seth Conroy, Nick Burleson, Brandon Duff, Trent Duff, William Sanders, Mike Hernandez, and Riley Conroy.
