James Carroll Montague, 83, of Ravenden Springs, passed from this life on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born on May 5, 1943, to the late Carroll Nelson and Barbara (Fitzpatrick) Montague. James proudly served in the United States Navy. He was of the Christian belief.

He dedicated many years of his life to General Electric, working with skill and dedication in mechanical machine maintenance. He was an avid rock collector who found joy in sharing his impressive collection with family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Barbara Coleman.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vada Montague of the home; his children, James Montague of Tuscon, Arizona, Darrin Montague or New Hampshire, and Jason Montague of Ravenden Springs; one sister, Peggy McFadden of Maynard; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday, August 28, 2026, at 2 P.M. in the Gravesville Cemetery near Pocahontas. All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.
