Jay Lynn "Bud" Light, 58, of Alicia, passed from this life on Friday, May 8, 2026, at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1967, in Pocahontas, to Jerry Lynn and Connie Yvonne (Manning) Light. He was united in marriage to Nichole Butts on August 2, 1999, in Alicia. He was a farmhand and a self-employed land leveler during his life. He attended the Arbor Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Minturn. Jay was a kind and good-hearted man who treated everyone with respect and compassion. He enjoyed flying gas-powered model airplanes, spending time fishing, and caring for his chickens, which brought him great joy.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lynn Light; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Nichole Light, of the home; son, Justin Light of the home; daughter, Brittnie Brooks (Nathaniel) of Connecticut; mother, Connie Light of Mountain Home; sister, Tina Light of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Aliyah and Kyson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, 1 P.M. in the Strangers Home Cemetery in Alicia with Kevin Roberts officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Cousins will serve as pallbearers.
