Jewel Courtney Snapp, 98, of Walnut Ridge, passed from this life on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Akron, Ohio on April 25, 1926, to the late Jewel and Virgie (Weir) Courtney.

Mrs. Snapp was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years C.R. Snapp; one brother, James Clark Courtney; one sister, Mary Ann Courtney Lacy.

She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Courtney Honore of South Port, NC; two daughters, Coni (Snapp) Davis and Ginger (Snapp) Bibb both of Walnut Ridge; granddaughter, Johna Bibb Walker (Zach) of Benton; three grandsons, Blaine Davis (Nikki) of Hoxie, Garett Davis (Jennifer Harris) of Marmaduke, and Clay Bibb (Desaray) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Davis Collier (Matthew), Drew Davis (Samantha), Emee Davis, Aubrey Walker, Jack Davis, Paxton Walker, and Jewel Bibb; and two great-great-grandchildren, Paislie Collier and Lucas Davis.

Early in her life, Jewel's family returned to northeast Arkansas, where her father became a farmer, and their family grew. She attended White Oak Elementary until graduating in the 8th grade. She graduated as valedictorian from WRHS in 1944.

Her first job was as secretary at Snapp Motor Company where she met and married C.R. Snapp. They built a home four blocks away from the business and settled in for the full life that they shared.

Family led the way for both Jewel and C.R. Church was always important to Jewel and she took the children every week until C.R. showed up one Sunday morning and continued faithfully until his passing.

Jewel got a dishwasher and took up china painting when her girls went to college. She loved painting and was elected president of the Arkansas China Painter's Club. She continued to paint well into her 90s. Jewel was also involved in two bridge clubs, one for ladies and one for couples. During this same period, Jewel and friends started a gourmet cooking club with one meal a month and a grand finale meal with their spouses at Christmas. Her expert cooking was enjoyed by family, friends, and church members alike.

Jewel's visitation will be on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge with funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. Minister Jay Clark will officiate. Interment will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.
