Johnny Jefferson Gray, 92, of Pocahontas died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born May 8, 1922 in Sedgwick to "S.B." and Loretta Dean Gray. On July 7, 1943 he married Pearl Maxine Neal in Sedgwick. Johnny was an Army-Air Force veteran, served as an airplane engineer during WWII, was a car hauler, worked at Oak Ridge Central Schools for eleven years, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a member of Cache River Pentecostal Church.



Preceding him in death were his parents; sons, Hubert Nelson Gray and John Donald Gray; daughter, Debra Louetta; and grandson, Lloyd L. Gray.



Survivors include his wife, Pearl, of the home; sons, James Glenn Gray of McDonough, Georgia, Lloyd Lee Gray of Dalton, Benny Randall Gray of Dalton; daughters, Judy Chiappelli of Hoxie, Rhonda Cherry and Tammy Tribble both of Pocahontas; numerous grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.



Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19th, from 6 to 8pm at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 20th, at 10am in the Cox Chapel with Rick Hart and Calvin Botard officiating. Burial will follow in Old Military Cemetery in Sedgwick.



Pallbearers are Jeff Worlow, Mitchell Worlow, Jr. Deen, Jamie Hill, Bobby Neal, and Brian Gray.
