Walnut Ridge- Joy Ann Fowler, 77, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.  She was born March 12, 1943, in Clover Bend to the late Charles Lindsey and Anna Simmons Counts.  She was a homemaker during her early life and retired from Skill.  She was a member and involved in the prayer group at the Main Street Church of Christ in Walnut Ridge.  Joy spent many hours in her yard working in her flower garden and bird watching.  She loved her grandchildren, church family and her cats.  She was an avid supporter of animal rescue, ASPCA and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Dale Counts; sisters, Deborah Kluge, Lois Vernida Counts, Melva Massey, and Wanda Petersen.

Joy is survived by her sons, Scott Fowler (Rhonda) of Clover Bend, Mark Fowler of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter, Angela Barnes (Mitch) of Jonesboro; brother, Gale Counts (Helen) of Tom Bean, Texas; sister, Lavoe Harber (Guy) of Cordova Tennessee; grandchildren, Whitney Blackburn (Justin) of Paragould, Tyler Fowler (Sarah) of Hoxie; two great-grandchildren, Zeb Dickson Fowler and Sydney Fowler; and several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 10 until 11 a.m. under the canopy at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.  Funeral Services will follow immediately at 11 a.m. with Rob Combs officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date.  Due to Covid-19 guidelines, social distancing and masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge in Memphis, Tennessee.
