Kathy Jean Proffitt, 67, of Jonesboro passed from this life at NEA Baptist hospital in Jonesboro.  She was born March 17, 1956, to Lloyd and Elnora Lenderman Hefner. She was employed for a cable company and worked insurance during her lifetime.  She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Jonesboro.  Kathy was an avid crafter, loved to garden, bake, and had a passion for animal rescue.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elnora Hefner.

She was survived by her father, Lloyd Hefner of Fontaine; daughter, Jennifer Watson (Mike) of Jonesboro; daughter of her heart, Jennifer Jones (Kenneth) of Jonesboro; and brother, Keith Hefner (Patty) of Fontaine.
