Lawrence Sanford Nichols, Jr., 80, of Walnut Ridge, passed from this life on Friday, March 12, 2021, at his residence.  He was born December 21, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri to Lawrence Sanford, Sr. and Cleona Scott Nichols. He married Patricia Dobbs on December 7, 1962 in Hoxie. He was a model maker and designer for Vulcan Shoe Last.  Lawrence was of the Assembly of God belief, and he enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 58 years of the home; Dr. Lawrence Sanford Nichols, III (Trish) of Marion; daughter, Mary Michelle Assiter (Tim) of Lubbock, Texas; brother, William Nichols of St. Louis; sister, Beverly Mayberry (Don) of St. Louis; grandchildren, Hampton Nichols Roy, Lawrence Alexander Nichols, Constance Helena Roy, and Sydney Ellen Nichols; and many other extended family members and loved ones.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge from 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.  Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. in Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery.  David Craig will officiate.  All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alex Nichols, Hampton Roy, Dr. Lawrence Nichols, III., Jay Johnson, and Tim Assiter.

Honorary pallbearers are Garland Gilmore and Bob Heard.
