Legusta O'Neal Richmond, 89, of Smithville, passed from this life Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.  He was born on April 30, 1933, to the late Ural and Elizabeth Williams Richmond.  O"Neal served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-1955 and was a reserve until 1960.  He was a sawmill owner/operator and a logger.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 63 years, Frances; sons, James and Mark Richmond; brothers, J.C., Lawrence, and Jim Richmond.

Survivors include sons; Roger Richmond (Kellie) of Craig, Colorado, John Richmond (Marsha) of Lynn, and Joey Richmond (Brenda) of Powhatan; a sister, Dianne Daggett of Walls, Mississippi; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 10 am until 11:30 am at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Annieville with funeral service following at 11:30 am.  Joey Richmond, Jerry Clements, and James Goodwin will officiate. Burial will follow in Lincoln-Ward Cemetery in Saffell.  Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are John Paul Morgan, Ford Richmond, Tucker Richmond, Daniel Richmond, Andy Block, Dale Block and Justin Slusser.
