Powhatan-  Lowell Junior Richey, 88, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.  He was born on May 13, 1928 in Moundsville, Missouri to Parvin and Emmer Treatenburg Richey. He married Bonnie Sue Smith in Powhatan on November 24, 1956.   Lowell owned and operated a sawmill for many years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, and his parents.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra McCormic (Wendell) and Shelley Doyle (Steve), both of Portia; and Stacey Harmon (David) of Horseshoe Bend; sister, Betty Wright (R.A.) of Strawberry; grandchildren, Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic (Kenzie), Rachel Harmon, and Preston Harmon; great grandchildren, Link McCormic and Brody Williams.

Visitation for Mr. Richey will be Monday, February 6, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.  Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Harold Russell and Cindy Bragg officiating.  Burial will be at Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Justin McCormic, Jeremy McCormic, Rachel Harmon, Preston Harmon, Michael Smith, and Evan Doyle.
