Melvin Andrew Goodson, 83, of Walnut Ridge died Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born January 14, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to David Loren and Freida Lee Shannon Goodson. On August 16, 1980 he married Dorlyn Mae Carver in Springfield, MO. He was a former sub-deacon in Desoto, MO and became an ordained minister in 1985 serving at New Apostolic Church in Springfield, MO. He was a truck driver for Sears 11 years and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Robert Goodson; son, Chester Goodson.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; sons, Melvin Henry, David, Mark Edward, Gary, Mark Allen; daughters, Marlene, Andrea, Beverly, Pamela; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private at the VA cemetery in Bloomfield, MO. Cox Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge is in charge of those arrangements.
