Perry Allen Murphy, 90, of Ravenden, died July 23, 2013 at Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas. He was born May 6, 1923 in Flatwoods, MO to Leo Raymond and Edna Livingston Murphy. He was an Army veteran, serving in WWII in the 746th tank battalion (Battle of the Bulge), was a POW, wounded December 25, 1944, returned to the war after fully recovered; five-time Bronze Star and two-time Purple Heart recipient (medals and citations for his valiant efforts throughout his tour of duty). He owned and operated a saw mill.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Onita Murphy; step-son, Marty Wells; brother, Carl Chester Murphy.

Survivors include sons, Jerry Murphy of Searcy and James Murphy of Watts, Oklahoma; step-son, Keith Wells (Kathy) of Fayetteville; daughter Joan Burch (David) of Lynn; step-daughter, Patricia Pritchard of Hawaii; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law of eighteen years, Kathy Wells, of Ravenden.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Cox-Fears Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge. Funeral services will be immediately following visitation under the direction of Cox-Fears Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Jackie Pickett officiating. Burial will be in Opposition Cemetery near Ravenden.

Pallbearers are Brian Ratliff, Jerry Wayne Price, Andy Morris, Danny Israel, Elden Helms, and Chuck Greenwell. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Ratliff, Corey Wilson, and Jason Roan.
