Phyllis Newton, born November 16, 1942 of Little Rock died November 9, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents: Opal (HAPPY) Rainwater Newton, and Richard Reid Newton.
Phyllis obtained an Associate Degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. She was of the Methodist faith. She worked as a Photo Editor for Follett Publishing Company in Chicago, IL for 14 years. She then worked for the Student Loan Guarantee Foundation of Arkansas in Little Rock for 27 years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
However, the main love of her life was spent volunteering at the Humane Society of Pulaski County and all the dogs she sheltered, rescued, adopted and loved. She was an active volunteer for many years and has served on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of Pulaski County for the past 16 years. Her dogs were her life and her face would literally just light up when she talked about them.
She is survived by her faithful dog, Sally, and a host of cherished family members.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, AR. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 Wednesday at Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge.
