Richard Phillips, of Walnut Ridge departed this life on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Lawrence Health and Rehab at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 17 days.  He was born on August 24, 1935 in Portia, Arkansas, the son of Clyde and Marie Doyle Phillips.  He was united in marriage to Mae Miller on February 27, 1954 in Rockford, Illinois.  Mr. Phillips was an automobile mechanic at Walnut Street Garage and was of the Assembly of God belief.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Phillips; two brothers, James Thomas Phillips and Larry Clyde Phillips; and one sister, Kathy Hill.

Survivors include: his wife, Mae Phillips of the home; two sons, Michael Phillips (Jo Carol) of Walnut Ridge and Rickey Phillips (Melissa) of Pocahontas; sisters, Mary Holder and Iris Summit, both of Walnut Ridge, and Rose Carol Clark of Mountain Home;  grandchildren Amy Hamann (Rob), Craig Phillips (Chelsie), Brian Phillips (Heather) and Candace Durbin (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Evan and Lincoln Hamann, Dexter and Rhett Phillips, Paisley and Grayson Phillips, and Lakota Durbin; and many other relatives and friends mourn his passing.

Visitation will be Friday, November 20, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Cox Funeral Home chapel in Walnut Ridge with funeral following immediately at 12 p.m.  Glenn Smith will officiate.  Interment will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Craig Phillips, Brian Phillips, Jeremy Durbin, and Rob Hamann.
