Roy Davis Coles Jr., 91, of Walnut Ridge passed from this life on Friday, July 8, 2022, at his residence.  He was born on February 26, 1931, to the late Roy Davis Coles Sr. and Alice Bozeman Coles in Colorado, Texas. He was united in marriage to Eugenia "Genie" Lauro on August 4, 1956, in Oxnard, California. Roy was a petroleum engineer for Shell Oil Company for over 30 years.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Walnut Ridge. He proudly served in the United States Navy, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Navy Expert Rifleman Medal.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Genie, and his parents.

He is survived by his children, Felice "Lisa" Coles of Oxford, Mississippi, Ellen Holloway (Ron) of Walnut Ridge, and Janine Islam (David) of Tyler, Texas; sister, Becca Price of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Trey Holloway, Luke Holloway, Susan Islam, Jeffrey Islam, and Maria Islam.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Cox Funeral Home chapel in Walnut Ridge.  Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with John Arnold officiating.  Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge. Military honors will be rendered.  All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.
