Samuel Garvin, 80, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born on November 13, 1935 in Sedgwick to James Samuel and Dorothy Buchanan Garvin. He married Dorothy Murphy Garvin on May 26, 2015 in Portia. He was a retired foreman from Bendex in Michigan. He served in the Army, and was of the non-denominational faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, Yvonne Garvin, and his brothers, Virgil Garvin and Herman Garvin.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy of the home; sons, Leonard (Debbie) and Russell Garvin of Michigan, James (Jacquie) Garvin of Florida; daughters, Denise Garvin and Sandra (Jamie) Walter of Michigan; sisters, Evelyn Crow of Calico Rock, Helen Swindle of Greenbriar, Shirley Gilbert of Morrilton, Sharon Bristow of Hoxie, Ruth Phillips of Black Rock; fourteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday at 1:00 pm at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge, with funeral service to follow at 2 pm.  Clay Garvin, Wesley Garvin, and Jeff Hamm will officiate.  Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Warm Springs.

Pallbearers will be Shane Koster, Garrett Garvin, Joey Garvin, Jamie Walter, Josh Walter, and Mike Podell.
