Velma Lee Duckworth, 94, of Pocahontas, formerly of Black Rock, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas.  She was born on March 19, 1923 to Martin and Patsy McMinn Gross in Dell. She married Leroy Duckworth in Blytheville,Arkansas.  Velma was retired from Brown Shoe Co. and was a member of the Black Rock church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Leroy Duckworth; two sons, Gary Duckworth and Charles Duckworth; a daughter, Carolyn Marie Duckworth; four brothers and one sister; two step brothers and two step sisters; two grandsons, Tony Bryant and Joseph Davis.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Carroll (John) of Phoenix, Arizona and Rebecca Matlick (David) of Fredrick, Maryland; two sisters, Irene Overton and Edith Riggs both of Dell; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandhildren.

Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2018 from 5 until 7 pm at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge. Funeral will be Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 1pm at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Prestidge officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Matlick, Jack Carroll, Andy Overton, John Duckworth, Benjamin Duckworth and Victor Bounds.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bruce Smith and Joe Day.
