Vera Austin Johnson, 104, of Pocahontas, formerly of Portia, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Randolph County Nursing Home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on November 9, 1921, in Walnut Ridge to the late Wylie and Lydia (Smith) Austin. She was united in marriage to Jewell Johnson on June 21, 1941.

Vera was an active member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Portia for many years. She retired from the Jonathan Logan Dress Factory in Walnut Ridge, where she was known for her skillful work marking button holes, trimming zippers, and hemming garments. A talented seamstress, she took great pride in her craft. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, creating artwork, making her daughter's prom dresses, and sewing for her granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Jewell Johnson; brothers, Leonard Austin, Shelby Austin, and Ray Austin; sisters, Fern Cox, Neva Hackworth, and Atha Baker; and grandson, Jeremy Kildow.

She is survived by her daughter, Becky Kildow (Lawrence) of Portia; grandchildren, Jeff Kildow (Teresa) of Hot Springs, and Jennifer Roberts (David) of Black Rock; great-grandchildren, Garrett (Meighan), Ryan (Julie), Brook, Travis (Emily), and Jacob; great-great grandchildren, Ayden, Graysen, Jamie, Bentley, Adeleigh, Atticus, and Augustus; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge from 12:30 P.M. to 2 P.M. with funeral services immediately following at 2 P.M. Bro. Robert Hutchinson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
