Virgil John Lynch, 78, of Imboden passed from this life on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his residence. He was born July 26, 1945, in Lynn to the late Willie and Opha (Simmons) Lynch. He was united in marriage to Elaine Geurin on May 2, 1963, in Lynn. He was retired as a part time deputy sheriff, a mason of the Smithville Lodge #29, previous member of Lynn volunteer fire department, and a former constable of Morgan township.  Virgil was of the Baptist belief.

In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Lynch; and sisters, Marie Morgan, Mable Alls, Isophene Glenn, Angie Gyngard, and Shirley Matthews.

He is survived by his children, Vicki Hutton (Creston) of Imboden and Barry Lynch (Leasia) of Lynn; sister, Clara Wise of Charlottesville, Virginia; special grandson, Perry Hutton; niece, Krystal Hendon; several other nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.  Funeral services will follow immediately at 2 p.m. with Joey Richmond and Steve Sanders officiating. Interment will be in Dry Creek Cemetery in Lynn under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Masonic rights will be performed at the cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Randall Gawf, John Richmond, Terrence Ward, T.J. Marlin, Steve Sanders, and Trent Geurin.

Honorary pallbearers are Dan Matthews, Jim Jones, Lynn Long, Garland Gilmore, Eugene Raney, and Jackie Simmons.
