Virginia Charlene Downing, 89, of Portia, departed this life and went to meet her Lord on November 10, 2014 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. She was born March 15, 1925 in Sitka to Charles Lee and Lillie Linon Boyer Wade. On January 12, 1946 she married Robert "R.A." Adams Downing in Walnut Ridge. She was a loving mother, homemaker, and long time member of the Portia church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Larry Robert Downing; brothers, Roy and Chester Wade; sisters, Dessa Norton, Shelma Phillips, Alpha Wade, Lona Wade, and Joyce Wade.

Survivors include her husband, R.A., of the home; daughters, Connie Blackwell (Jim) of Dexter, MO and Regina Robertson (Keith) of Walnut Ridge; granddaughters, Susie Allen, Angie Bobo, Sarah Blackwell, Lori Carson, and Krista Robertson; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 13th from noon to 1:30pm in the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation in the Cox Chapel with Robert Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge.

Pallbearers are Jim Blackwell, Keith Robertson, Ty Boling, Derek Carson, Zack Carson, and Quinn Carson.
