Virginia Lucille Meriwether, 88, passed from this life on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Pocahontas Health and Rehab Center in Pocahontas. She was born April 21, 1935 in Walnut Ridge to the late Bud and Alice Cleo (Rock) Lytle. Virginia was of the Baptist belief. During her early years she worked at Jonathan Logan Dress factory. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, putting puzzles together and solving Wheel of Fortune answers before the contestants.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Aubrey Rice; second husband, Douglas Meriwether; sisters, Edith Passalaqua, Barbara Disher and Genandol Adkinson.

She is survived by a son, Owen (Debbie) Rice of the home; daughters, Peggy Rice of Swifton, Teresa Rice of Hoxie; Barbara (Scott) Hullett of Knobel, and Penny Patterson of Kennett, Missouri; brother, Donnie (Janice) King of Hoxie; sister, Bonnie Walton of Hoxie, six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.

A visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 10:00 until 11 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.  A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Craig Lee officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.
