Hoxie- Zane Harvey Hurst, 75, of Hoxie passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 at his residence.  He was born July 7, 1945 to Thomas Marvin and Sylvia Juanita Lacefield Hurst in Walnut Ridge.  He was employed as a foreman with the Union Pacific Railroad for twenty-seven years and served in the Army during Vietnam.   Zane was of the Baptist belief and was an avid reader.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Melissa Hurst; brother, Silas Hurst; sisters, Theresa Parks, Bess Wilson, Eva Hurst, and Rachel Broadway.

He is survived by his wife, Boonie McElrath Hurst of the home; sister, Esther Montgomery of Walnut Ridge; step-children, Jeff McElrath of Walnut Ridge, Tracy McElrath of Marion, Tony Miller of Illinois, Darris Miller of Walnut Ridge, Rick Miller of North Carolina, Sharon Calvin of Florida, and Vickey Wells of Earle; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge with funeral following immediately at 12 p.m.  James Anderson will officiate.  Interment will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Gerald Hurst, Steve Tate, Chad Montgomery, Richie Montgomery, Richie Minton, and David Hurst.

Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Blazer, Bugs Householder, and Danny Hilburn.
